Organisation Information

The Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) is part of UK Research and Innovation.

STFC is a world-leading multidisciplinary science organisation, and our goal is to deliver economic, societal, and scientific benefits to the UK and its people – and more broadly to the world.

We support research in astronomy, physics, and space science, and operate the UK’s national world class research facilities from our sites across the UK (Harwell, Daresbury, Edinburgh, Chilbolton and Boulby).

In addition STFC develops technology specialising in magnets, cryogenics, detectors and RF. We have extensive capabilities in High Performance Computing, modelling and data analytics.
