Nobel Laureates call for Photonics to be included in Eu funding priorities

In an open letter to the European Commission released by Photonics 21, three of the worlds most eminent Nobel Science Laureates have warned of the significant negative impact if Photonics is not included in the priority list for Horizon Europe funding.

Professor Gérard Albert Mourou, Professor Stefan W. Hell and
Professor Theodor W. Hansch point out that the photonics sector has gained a world-leading position, with an impressive number of European Nobel Prizes awarded, as a direct result of the investment and specialist status given to light based technologies through Horizon 2020 and recommend photonics be considered as the tenth technology priority in the Horizon Europe funding framework that will follow Horizon2020.
