TechUK have launched a five month Photonics Sprint to identify key Photonics applications, showcase best
practice, and explore how the UK can lead on the development and deployment of Photonics technologies. The sprint will conclude with a report
(launching Q1/2 2026) which will summarise the campaign’s findings, feature member & stakeholder case studies, and set out policy
recommendations for Government.
The Photonics Leadership group is working with TechUK to highlight past UK photonics policy initiatives and recommendations, the significant level of community and government engagement already underway and the key statistics on the UK photonics industry. We encourage the community to engage with the TechUK sprint series to ensure the full breadth of photonics opportunities and stakeholder case studies are represented.
Launched on the 10 September the campaign will feature a number of events on specific photonics applications including:
- Telecoms and Space – 24 November
- Defence – 26 November
- Supply Chain resilience – December
- International collaboration – 19 January
