The UK Telecommunications Network announced by DCMS in March will be run by a consortium including Bristol University, Cambridge Wireless, West Midlands 5G and the Digital Catapult.
UKTIN will act as an information and ideas hub for industry and academics looking to access funding or R&D testing facilities and opportunities to collaborate on developing new mobile and broadband technology. With a vastly expanded remit over the previous UK5G, UKTIN will support the whole of the communications supply chain including optical comms and data infrastructure. The PLG will be support UKTIN as a sub-contractor in interfacing with the photonics and optical communications community.
The PLG look forward to working with UKTIN who will be fully up and running from September. In the meantime he PLG encourage participation in the two latest funding competitions simultaneously announced by DCMS
